We are very sad to announce that Bellows Press will cease trading at the end of June 2025. Unfortunately, the costs of publishing have proved to be too high for us to keep Bellows running as we’d like to, so we’ve taken the difficult decision to close down.

When we started Bellows we had a strong ambition to publish new and exciting books which pushed the boundaries of mainstream fiction. We believe we have done what we set out to do. It has been a privilege and a joy to work with our authors and to bring their brilliant books to readers around the world.

Our books feature queer women in a range of genres — women finding love and independence in Regency and Victorian times (Lammy finalist A Lady to Treasure and Golden Crown—shortlisted The Secret of Matterdale Hall); women grappling with moral quandaries in a violent near-future (Weather Underwater); and a woman rediscovering friendship and her own magical powers in the wake of grief (Ernie and the Mage-Killer).

Thank you to all who helped us create these books and put them in the hands of readers: our designers, printers, and distributors, and booksellers and reviewers across the United Kingdom. And thank you to every reader who supported independent publishing — we hope you enjoyed these beautiful, varied novels as much as we did. We’re proud to have brought them to you.

We are holding a half price sale on all four of our paperbacks, best rates found at York Bookshop dot com but we are also on Bookshop, Waterstone’s, and Amazon. All titles are also available as ebooks.
